Random Homework Thoughts from a few weeks ago

A few thoughts on education reforms:

By looking towards community based school models I think we can solve some of the resource issues associated with educational reforms in our future.  Many people in suburban and exurban communities  are disconnected from their local schools as affluent families send their children to charter schools and private schools.

As I look out at the ugliness of suburbia I can imagine how much lovelier and useful spaces we could create- rooftop garden schools, mini aquaculture areas, greenhouses, specialized schools for children of all needs.

Instead of sprawl we need political motivation and momentum  to start using vacant spaces and  repurpose them into new types of schools and community spaces.
